Post by yokozuna4x2 » Wed Nov 08, 2006 2:15 pm

hi all..i was on the hpi site looking around and i noticed they fixed the tvp problem plus somthing about the tranny case as well..
will they keep the same part number to the kit or add a letter or somthing to tell the revised kit from the older x kits?

TVP's have fatter X under engine,
Tranny case has an extra screw on the top now, and other ribbbing for strength,
Skid plates/bumper has a better seal for the bottom of the diff case,

I heard somebody mention the tranny case is the same part number as the X version. Dont know about the TVPs and bumpers. Download the manuals from the HPI site and check the part numbers

Everything else are hop up parts you can buy on there own. Oh and any part you know are the same but listed different in the X manual are wrong. Its full of misprints. Gearbox bearing sizes spring to mind

Do those skids that are upgraded give any advantage over the .25 rtr skids and if they are better will they fit the .25

I like the skidplates, beefier retainers for the bottom hinge pins and better protection for the ring and pinion. Other than the diff design changes, the rest of the improvements I can't really get excited about.

Not too shabby HPI. Image

Actually it wasnt because i asked if they would be efective on the .25 rtr over the ones that already come on it. a comparison between the x and x ss doesnt help me :(

ALL the answers are on HPI's site. They show a list of what's backwards compatable from the newer X trucks and the older .25 trucks.

Then they also show why the skidplate is better on the Savage X SS main page of pictures and explain why.

For the LAZY

Compatibility!
Careful attention has been paid to maintain the tradition of Savage aftermarket support. Most of the new Savage X features are compatible with the long list of Savage aftermarket parts already available, and older Savage trucks can be upgraded to most of the exciting new parts found on the Savage X.

Savage X parts that will fit on past Savage trucks:
Nylon Roll Hoop (more durable)
Nylon Rollcage (engine protection)
Warlock Wheels* (stronger 17mm hex hub)
17mm Hex Hubs (stronger)
GT-2 Tires (lighter)
Turnbuckles (easier to adjust) Transmission Case (easier to remove)
Differential Housings* (front and rear)(easier to remove)
Shock Towers (additional shock locations)
Suspension Arms (lighter)
Radio Box (easier access)
Slipper Clutch (dual pads plus rubber dampening)
Savage X Chassis Plates* (lowered CG)
F4.1 Engine
* May require a few extra parts for conversion

Parts carried over from past Savage trucks:
Internal Differentials
Internal Transmission
Dogbones
Driveshafts
Brake
Axles
Exhaust
Uprights
C Hubs
Body Posts
Body Position
Engine Mount & Plate
Servo Saver
Shocks and Springs

Past Savage parts that will NOT fit on the Savage X:
Alloy Roll Hoop
Spur Gears (hardened steel gears will fit with new inner hub)
Polycarbonate Receiver Cover
