Savage-Central Bulletins
2007 Northeast Bashfest
AKA the 4th Annual Savage-Central Bashfest
What:
Basically the same as we have done for the last few years. We will set up a big jump to launch off of. Occasionally the jump will be shut down for some track time, and we’ll run some laps. Being that the groups have been small, this loose format has suited us in the past. If the attndance gets much bigger, we may have to structure some events, but I am leaving it as a loosely organized bash for the time being.

When:
July 14, 2007
Track opens at 9:00 AM

Where:
Team CRC Raceway, Rome NY. For directions, click the link, and there is a link for directions in the menu on the left.

Entry Fee: $15.00 per person, $25 for a family. No limit on vehicles, entry is per person/family not number of vehicles.

This started out with 5 attendees in 2004, each year attendance has doubled, there were approximatly 20 SC members and their friends or family in attendance. Hopefully this year we will have more.

HPI has learned of the event, and is sending a few things to give away as prizes. Also, they may send one of their representatives out, but due to the relativly short notice, that may not happen.

See the thread in our FORUMS for more details.

  New parts from HPI!
Posted by oarie on Mon Dec 27, 2004 11:51 am (Read More... | 387 comments | Score: 4.06)
Savage-Central Bulletins New from HPI Racing is a Cam Type Servo Saver for all Savage trucks. Cam type servo savers are popular with serious racers because they deliver quicker and more accurate steering response, and full adjustability of the servo saver for extra steering servo protection. Racers will immediately feel that the steering centers better and that the truck has more steering at high and low speeds. The set also includes a stronger throttle return spring and a revised throttle servo saver spring, ensuring a more positive engine shut down if radio reception is lost. All necessary hardware for installation is included, along with complete instructions. Shown assembled and mounted on sample chassis plate. Sample plate not included.

HPI Racing is proud to introduce a new Air Cleaner for Savage trucks and most big block 21+ engines! Dual layers of micro density foam help provide maximum air filtration for extended engine life, even in dusty conditions. The filter element size has been increased, which helps extend the time between routine filter cleanings. The neck of the filter has been extended so that the filter is now located safely under the roll hoop and away from the spur gear. The new design allows access for cleaning without removing the filter from the engine, which makes disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly a snap. The inner filter comes pre-oiled and ready to use right out of the package! This air cleaner fits .21 to .28 nitro engines sizes.

Available now from HPI racing is a 47 Tooth Spur Gear for all Savage monster trucks. This addition expands the range of gearing for the Savage, giving racers and bashers more choices to help get the most performance possible out of their trucks. The smaller diameter of the 47 Tooth gear delivers higher top speed, and also makes room for the installation of a larger clutch bell without modifying the truck.

Savage owners can now get a HPI 4 Bevel Gear Differential Conversion Set for their trucks. The 4 gear conversion is a popular upgrade, especially for heavy-duty driving and high horsepower applications. Now HPI offers a precision factory manufactured set that is a direct replacement for the stock gears. The extra gears decrease the stress on the drivetrain for longer gear life and less maintenance. Each package contains everything needed to upgrade one differential, including strengthened & notched gear shafts, and revised gears that are hardened for extra durability. This will be a very popular option part for Savage owners!

HPI Racing is proud to introduce our new 8 Spoke Wheels for Savage, T-Maxx and E-Maxx monster trucks. The multi-spoke design gives any monster truck a high tech look. Featuring the same beefy high impact nylon construction as the standard Savage wheels, they are available in white, black, shiny chrome and realistic aluminum matte chrome finishes. Transform the look of your monster truck with a new set of HPI wheels!

Available now from HPI Racing are new 6 Spoke Wheels for the Savage series of monster trucks. Slam these awesome beadlock style wheels on your Savage to give your truck a powerful look! These wheels are fully compatible with all Savage, T-Maxx and E-Maxx monster trucks. Featuring the same beefy high impact nylon construction as the standard Savage wheels, they are available in white, black, satin chrome and realistic aluminum matte chrome finishes. There's no easier way to customize the look of your truck than with a new set of wheels!

  S-25 Engine Backplate Update

HPI has had reports of some problems with the backplate of the S-25 engine vibrating loose, which can cause the engine to not run properly and possibly damage the engine. Upon inspecting some of the engines, it looks like the torque setting for the screws that hold on the backplate were not tight enough from the manufacturer.

To correct the problem you can either follow the instructions below, or send us the engine and we will update it for you. See the "Contact HPI" section at http://www.hpiracing.com for information on where and how to send in the engine.

  New Tires from HPI

Savage-Central Bulletins We can expect to see the new release of the "Bow Tie" style pin tires for the Savage 21 soon, it was shown but very unnoticable at RC expo in Anaheim, Ca. It looks to be as good or better then "Bow Tie" tire which seems to be the tires of choice on the tracks. Off hand HPI's Pinned traction tire is Med. to Low Profiled with a hard sidewall that will combat sidewall roll on stock rims, something the "Bow Tie" tires were prone in, mostly on hard sharp turns. The rubber compound is slightly harder for more offroad surface terrains(Hard-Soft) and durability. The Pins are evenly spaced and are in rows about 2-3mm in height about the same as the"BT" tires. At first glance HPI has a winner with this competive tire to go with the Highly competive Savage 21, just got wait to get more info on cost and release date.
Thanks,
Vision (Yes it's just race, but rules/morals still apply)

UPDATE: Mounting Pro-Line Outback Welds on the Savage

wheel adapterOK, a lot of people have e-mailed me and PM'd me about my article on mounting Outback Weld 40s on the Savage and I've got some updates.

A while ago I had purchased a set of the Pro-Line 40 series Velocity 6 wheels but I was disappointed not only by their looks but also by the fact that it was the only wheel you could use on the Savage if you wanted to run Big Joe tires so I went out and bought the Ouback Welds with the intention of finding a way to mount them on the Savage. My first solution was to modify the adapter discs that come with the Welds but I realize not everyone has the tools or the desire to do this mod. Well now I've made it a lot easier for those of us who want to use the Welds but have been reluctant because of this.

Note: These adapters can now be ordered from our store in two models. Part number SC0001 is for the Savage and SC0002 is for the T-Maxx and Terra Crusher.
