|
|
OK enough is enough!
I have spent almost two hundred in wheels and tires, and as far as physical size is concerned the only ones I like are Big Joes.
I have some 40 series badlands I need wheels for, and some 3.2 dirt bonz that I am putting on a set of maximizer beadlocks.
Now I am gonna probably use the bonz even though they are too small. I plan on pulling shock
spacers and using them for track duty type of bashing. Stuck with the joes or terrapins for jumping. I know the pins are better for jumping but the joes do fine for jumps under ten feet.
But what is killing me is that they are too small. I dont want my xl to look like an anemic xl based truggy. I want it to look like a MONSTER TRUCK!!!!
So what is probably gonna be said is to go with 23mm hex and bajas. Well thats fine for some of the bashing, but they are too heavy for track type stuff from what I understand. Swap back and forth? Well then I have to pull the hex adapters which use modified drive axles, and I am lazy.
So am I just gonna have to have the cake and not eat it by deciding which hex? Or is there a way for easy swaps between 17mm and 23mm?
Should I bite the bullet and go with 23mm only? That would just suck, I really want both. Also I have EVERYTHING for a killer 17mm setup.
Is there a real lightweight baja setup that uses a bonz type tire? (Thinking bowties).
Any suggestions on how to solve this?

what about goliaths?
switching back & fourth from 23mm to 17mm isnt too daunting. If you want curtain tires & wheels you might have to.
I like my mashers,,good all round tire for me. |

| Stock GT2s, Dirtbonz, or 40 series Trechers is a mix of GT2s and Terrapins thay have loads of grip and tons of cushion. That would be the best basher imo |

| This morning I thought about the idea of using stock pin type 17mm hex and 23mm hex adapters.. Is there a 23mm bolt on, no mod hex adapter that would not extend the axle further? |

| I have had my flux for a while now and I have owned at least 15 sets of wheels. I only run the 23mm hex now. American Cnc has some killer adapters. Best I have found. I do lots of jumping and my issue was breaking the diff pinion. I tried big joes, trencher x, goliaths , Stock wheels. All 40 series tires are to big for serious air!! I have tried beadlocks, dish all types. The two sets that I run now are Proline velocity 40 dish wheels with trencher x tires and a set of proline velocity dish wheels (not 40 series) with dirtbonz. Both are 23mm hex. I have never stripped a 23mm hex and I run 6s only!! I run the 40 series when I don't plan on jumping and the dirtbonz while jumping. All of my hexes look brand new and I beat the snot out of my trucks!! The only bad thing is that 23mm wheels are hard to find. I got lucky and found both sets on Amain hobbies! Pretty cheap, $11 a set of 2!! I bought all they had!! Good luck |
Flux HP, 23mm Proline wheels and Trencher x, HD drive gear, TCS Crawlers XL tvp's, BB's, Futaba BLS351, sway bars, integy rear carriers, 3s sky lipos, Vorza diff mod, Alza braces!
Bash Hard, catch big air and repair!!! |

Im super stoked cause I just got some 23mm hexs to use with my OFNA rims paried with old school bowties. All though I have to say switching to CD helped alot with the stripping and breaking. But you have to gear accordingly for the wheel.
Currently i have the Associated buggy style hexs that I need to mount onto the drive cups. But im to lazy to take the cups to work and drill the holes. Ive had them for at least 2 months My thing is if its not broke dont fix it. |
