| Just took the motor out of my 25 RTR and see the motor mount plate is cracked and I was just going to order one of the orange 2.5mm ones off an X but I see the XL has a 3mm plate. will that fit as well? I can only assume bigger is better... |

I'm starting to think neither will work... after looking closer the front of the plate mounts to bottom side of the tranny and the rear of the plate is on the top side of notches in the TVPs.. and variance in thickness would mean it's going to sit bent.. so would I need to use X TVP's in order to use the X 2.5mm plate? and XL TVPs for the XL 3mm plate? Trannies are all the same so the only difference would be the notch size in the TVPs...
or am I wrong? |

I used an XL plate in my Savage 25. In theory, it won't work, but I found if I loosened as many TVP screws as I could (including the tranny screws), it would fit due to the screw hole clearances. I suppose one might have to slightly elongate a hole or two, but i didn't.
On the other hand, if you are spending money, I'd say the plate SV250 linked to looks like a better solution. |

| That hot bodies one looks nice! After looking at some more pics I've come to the conclusion the orange plate from the X has notched edges so it should fit correctly... It was only $5 so no big loss if I'm wrong.. |

| Use washers on the engine mount bolts and it will help prevent the plate from cracking again - thanks to Les Claypool for that tip. |

I've recently installed that HotBodies plate and although it's not been run yet, it's worth pointing out that it's only 2.1mm plate thickness for the most part with added thickness by way of the longitudinal cooling fins. I also needed to grind away some of the fins at the centre line to allow clearance for the rear diff input drive cup (on a standard X TVP chassis). Wasn't too fussed about having to mod a supposed 'replacement part' as I got it from HPI UK for £8 (approx $13 US) reduced from about £30 ($48 - which seems kinda steep)
Just thought I'd chuck in my own experiences seeing as it came up
Cheers all
