Hey guys,

took the Savage out for some mud bashing today was a blast. How do you guys clean your savages especially your mud caked savages. I have mud in every crevice. Dont think I can just hose her down with the electronics in there. i have used some water and a tooth brush and blown her off with the compresser but didnt put a dent in the mud.

what do you guys suggest?

If it's super bad like yours is, I remove the engine, fuel tank, and pipe, because I'll want to hand scrub those good and be sure to not get dirt etc into the engine/intake.  On the engine I plug the carb, the fuel inlet, and the exhaust, then spray the crap out of it with brake clean.  With the truck I let it dry, then knock as much as the big stuff off that I can with a semi soft wire brush, tooth brush, and a good stiff paint brush.  Then spray the daylights out of it with WD40.  Just soak the thing.  Then compressed air to blast it all off.   WD40 is such an awesome cleaner.  Smile

After tearing it down, I get a bucket of Simple green and water, a tooth brush and a rough sponge. To finish it off, I use nitro clean to get the nooks and crannies.

Water alone really won't do much unfortunately. Nitro and the oil repel it (from what I gather) so you need some sort of detergent to get rid of the oil. That's why I suggest Simple Green. It's the best for cleaning nitro IMO, it's cheap and safe for the environment.

It's called Bash Polish.

And it'll fall off eventually. Very Happy
(although it does stick to the duct tape that's holding the body together pretty well)

Bash polish?

Google throws up 5.96 million answers which mainly seem to be about Poland & nail polish - any clues as to what it is?

Most people call it "dirt" but when it's removed the R/C Gremlins know where you live and have been known to visit the residence resulting in unexplained mishaps with your truck, so I just leave it on there.
(besides I'm too lazy to clean my truck) Laughing

my suggestion, search Very Happy this topic is asked about 3x a week  Very Happy

true story

but, since i'm here, the way I clean mine is a full tear down and inspection. Then i use a pressure washer on the TVP's, and bulkheads, and brake cleaner on the engine and tank. make sure its all dry, then lube/grease anything that needs it and re-assemble.
THEN, and this is THEE most important bit... once you've done ALL that- go get her dirty again!!!  Laughing

Good answer.

Seriously though, remove the engine/muffler, receiver, and battery. Re-attach your electronics lid.

Spray with a hose thoroughly!

Re-oil all the joints, replace electronics and engine, repeat.

I highly recommend waterproofing your servo's and possibly throwing your receiver into a balloon. Your wet worries will soon go away.

A hose works great.

Serves me right for er, um, posting in the early hours having consumed 'liberal' quantities of rather pleasant 'grape' juice.......

Where you at? I can't find that. Every couple years I look and can't find it.

I disassemble and use spray nine or simple green to make the plastic look news. Aluminum goes into soapy water.

Thanks to all the GOOD people on this site!!
