| No worries. I brought the losi tool kit to make removing the cartridge/shaft easier, and that seem to fit OK. I'll try sending them an email, thanks for the address. |

Just a little boost in this topic. Yesterday I received some LST shocks (man are they huge):
(Clickable, for fast page loading)
I currently run my Savage Flux with stock shock towers and a-arms. I still have 3 more a-arms on spare but I'm planning on buying some RPM onces I get around to it. So my question is what should I buy to mount these bad boys?
Should I buy the IRC set for the Savage X and also buy the standoffs for RPM (for the future)? Or do I only need to stand offs when I convert to RPM? Because in that case I can save $38 on IRC mounts and just buy RPM arms for that money right.
Some help needed :)
Maybe it's a good idea to update this topic regarding to the Savage Flux compatibility with the different parts? |

Nardcox: The flux is identical with regards to mount kits as the X.
For your other question:
Yes you only need stand-offs for the RPM arms.
I would suggest that you at least use IRC upper mounts (because they will bring the shocks to a more vertical position and they provide a much stronger upper mounting system)
With IRC uppers and stand-offs:
However you could just use LST shock bushings on the top, although I would suggest trying to strengthen them somehow, like in this pic:
With neither:

Thanks a bunch KiZ !!
So I have two options:
Option 1
2x 5mm Thick Top Mount Brackets - Savage X * 2
&
6mm Shock standoff spacer * 2
&
RPM arms * 2
Total costs +- : 16 pound + 9 pound + 20 euro = +- 47 euro
I need two of everything right (2 * top mount bracket + 2 * standoffs + 2 * RPM arms) ?
Option 2
LST Shock Kit HPI Savage X with X Arms 5mm - [SAVXLST2]
Total costs +- : 23 pound = 26 euro
One total package for my Savage Flux / X
Think I will just go for Option 2 then, it's cheaper for now and I still have 3 a-arms on spare. When I would then upgrade to RPM arms I can just buy the below RPM stand offs right?
Any more useful things I might consider buying there? |

Yeah that sounds like the best course of action!
The only thing I can think of is a screw kit if you don't already have one or maybe some diff gaskets if you rebuild your diffs often, other than that there isn't much for a flux there. |

Lol, exactly what I already had in my basket:
6x Differential Gaskets
When I build in my Cenns the other day those looked fragile, so a couple of spares doesn't sound that bad.
HPI Savage Screw kit (all models) - High tensile - [sav18771]
I was looking at these. They are not in stock so I would have to e-mail them about that. Or did you mean another one?
At first I was very negative about all the Philips heads on the Savage Flux but I must say it's not as bad as I excepted. I rebuild the Flux once now and all screws are still in good shape.
Thanks 4 the help, can't wait to throw on these shocks |

Ah yeah I didn't see they were out of stock. Oh well, you can always pick up a kit some other time.
Post up some pics when you get your shocks mounted! |

| Probably. Like you highlighted, they do claim to support the stock tower. You might have to bore the tower holes out a size, perhaps that's what they mean by mod. I would contact FLM to find out more. |

@ KiZ, I mailed FLM. The woman that replied didn't recollect exactly what the problem was but she new it was a simple mod.
@ Divey1130, maybe look @ the date of posting, 5 Jan. They are back in stock since very recently. |

Hey Kiz are you running an offset to clear the front shocks when turning? If so how much and or XL axles?
(On a side note incase anyone is interested, I have a pair of FLM43000 shock towers forsale $40 shipped they are like new, 1 just has a little scratch on the corner (nothing major). |
Burn it to the ground!

| Travis. I never had to run an offset wheel when I ran my LST shocks. The clearance for me was fine. But they sucked so badly I got rid of them, not basher material. |

For me personally I don't need offset (although I do use it) because I have IRC lower mounts that bring the shocks in closer to the chassis. However if you mount them directly to the original shock holes like the pictures a few posts above, then yes, you will need offset.
You can see on trisb's savage he has 1/2 offset maximizers and it's only just clearing the shocks whilst the steering is at lock: http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s51/jerseagrl/instruct1767.jpg
Thus I would suggest at least a 1/2 offset (probably an inch or more). |
