does the new xl diff come with the hard metal cut ring and pinion gears like the hpi upgrade 86922 ?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000295952&I=LXTSY7&P=K

when using the xl diff, i will need the xl dogbones (ball end slightly larger dia), but i don't want to use the xl axles, because of the extended length.  what normal length axle will fit the xl dogbone?
the only solution i came up with is, install x ss diff shafts onto the xl diff, but i really want to us the xl dogbones.

Get HPI #86928. It is the new super duty axle with the larger cups but in standard length.

$16 a pair. I use them on my SS with the new XL bones.

Sorry, forgot about that part. Yes, the optional hardened R&P are standard on the XL diffs.

Even with the heavy duty ring and pinion gears, you'll still need to shim the diffs if you want them to hold up.

i've never shimmed a diff before, but i can do a little reading and try it and while i'm there try some diff oil.

It is a rather simple process, one that is almost impossible to screw up if you are patient. Look for a thread written by sicj for a detailed breakdown.

2 years ago I would have suggested aluminum diff housings (not cups) also, but after running plastic X housings for several gallons, they seem to be solid enough to prevent the distortion that hindered the durability of the original savage differentials in the long term.
