Just wondering if it would be worth while to convert one flux to a twin motor truck?

I like dynamites thread but I'm just wondering if it would be practicle. He's doing 8s I would do 12s... 6s X 2
It would still retain the center diff. I honestly believe it would have to. There are quite a few 8s+ builds but there isn't enough feedback on wether or not they were worth the time building.

My biggest fear is that if I went with either 8s or 12s would the diff pinions be able to handle the power.
As of right now I have everything I need to do it except another set of 3s batteries.

Basically I would make a mount out of 1/4" aluminum and mount the motors low unlike the kershaw mount which mounts high in the truck. It would use modified CEN CVDs. But the truck would be as it sits currently.

Just shootin the idea out there. Lookin for some feedback

I have a question because it doesn't make sense to me.  How does putting two motors on something make it faster?  Not trying to be a *censored* I'm just trying to understand how it works.

Sounds like a cool project to me and hey if ya have the money why not Smile. I would definately say you have to do some thing with the whole drive line though. Bigger diff axles yokes Smile

It's not about speed it's about power.

The only reason why I'm considering it is it would be cool

To this day I'm still convinced that you can use Baja axles and hubs.

Idea I have a full machine shop here at work. I can just mill some new diff cups that fit Baja axles and have the standard savage size shaft to fit in the BP diff. Yes I can make this but I dont have the money to buy the Baja axles and stuff.

For now I'll stick with modified cen cvds

Based on your previous builds, I'm excited to follow this if you do decide to go forward.

im 99% sure I've got a set of stock Baja SS Bones, diff cups & axles ( a buddy robbed my box of extra parts recently) if you decide to move forward, I'm sure we could work out a reasonable price.

I know this sounds way out in left field and crazy,  but what about having one motor per axle?  I am sure that the speed control could somehow be made to work.

Well I'm going to think about this for the next day or two.

It certainly would be a sick build

More motors ups the torque, and lets you gear higher. This is where the extra speed will come from.

It would be cool,,
But what would you want to do,,just straight up speed?

You would probably need a chase vehicle to keep up,, it would be out range to quickly.
or maybe a round track? What gearing? Where do you put 2 extra 3s lipos?

You  got some cool stuff to work out,,
I feel like youve allready decided to try this,,stop teasing us,,where is the build thread?

It could work.  Lot's of crawler guys use two motors, 1 per axle, and a single esc.  Although, most are now using two esc's as it's easier.

Haha I've started building it in my head. I look at both of my Flux's and wonder all the time. Dynamite has a killer thread. So I figured I would try too. But venturing into twin motor territory has so many unknowns. It certainly would be fast that's for sure. But my thought behind it is being able to do a double or triple backflip standing still or the same but at 40mph.

Right now my cd flux can do everything the stock HP can do but without breaking things. It truly is one tough truck. So based off that why not add more power? If I wanted to go for speed, I would try and break 80mph. So far the fastest recorded flux is knocking at 80mphs door at 79mph. Sure would be cool to have both the fastest nitro and flux in the world hehe.

An idea just popped into my head and that is taking the two right side TVPs I have from TCS and making a new chassis with them. It would give me the clearance on both sides to fit two motors. But the issue is the mount holes in the TVPs are all counter bored so the left side would be tricky.

Just so many ideas running thru my head right now.

If it was a 1/5 scale chassis I could fit the 4 3s batteries

What motors would you use?  Something you have on hand already or new?  Would using two motors that are in the 5b flux series work out for that insane speed/torque you're looking for?  I know money would be an issue there, plus you'd probably need to upgrade some drivetrain items...just thoughts.  That would def. be a fast truck though.
