|
|
i wnat to get the savage x ss kit when it arrives at my lhs so i have been reading up on savage forums and getting a list together for a few weeks.
-the kit
-i already have a futaba 2ph radio(yeah i know its a crappy am radio but its all i got, i might pick up a used fm radio later on)
-for fuel my lhs owner said he will throw in a free gallon of sidewinder, its blue in color and i think 20% nitro content
-a futaba 3305 servo for the steering
-rechargable dynamite glow starter
-assortment of cold, medium, and hot plugs, (can someone recomend a good starting plug? average temp here is 20ish degrees celcius)
-threadlock, after run oil, air filter oil, nitro cleaner spray, fuel bottle
-a few spare spur gears and air filters
- 4 6x10x3 bearings for the steering upgrade
-a team losi hex driver set, for the savage i only need 1.5,2,2.5,3 mm wrenches right?
-few feet of extra fuel line, what diameter?
-already got a ofna failsafe
1 or 2 cans of paint
probably pick up a rx pack after i have it built and broken in
and my tower shopping list that i will order tonight:
-duratrax temp guage
-2 oz of 25 wt shock oil
-associated green slime as i hear its good to put on orings in shocks
-fuel filter (does it really matter which one?)
-mugen 50k wt diff oil,
-trinity ball bearing oil
-i want to pick up a extra ack of body clips, which ones are the correct size for the savage?
also i will swing by an ato parts store to pick up some RTV high temp sealant
and will i need to install e or c clips anywhere on the truck? do i need special snap ring pliers to isntall those? |

the tools you said you were getting will work. I have a set of cheapish Dynamite hex drivers, in addition to the Losi race wrenches, and the Losi ones are DEFINITELY worth the bucks IMO.
I personally prefer O'donnell 20 or 30%, but Sidewinder is good too.
the 3305 will be adequate for the throttle/brake...I'd suggest a Hitec 5645 (at least) for steering. the Airtronics I've got I definitely wouldn't recommend...only 130ish oz-in. it's going in my stadium truck when I get a new one, LOL.
the 2PH will be perfectly fine, too, as long as it has endpoint adjustments. the receiver's a little big, but who cares, right?
you'll love the truck, so when you get it built, break it in and beat the *censored* out of it:D |

You're an idiot.
Fuel filter matters
Why sell a radio to buy a crappier one? If it works it works
use 4 body clips, your truck will wheelie allot and you don't want your fresh body to be destroyed in the 1st outing. |

I just realized he told him to sell his radio, and get a stock HPI radio.
WTH is wrong with you? why would he DOWNGRADE?????
I think these are the body pins I use...not sure thoug, since there's no pic
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HBSC8113
the ones I use are the Hot Bodies ones for the Lightning. pre-bent and I RARELY lose one. Just remember to put your rear pins in from the back, and your front ones in from the front, so you dont' lose em:) |

FYI:
Sidewinder fuel is Red in color and is very good fuel. I switched from Trinity to sidewinder and haven't gone back. Sidewinder is cheaper and has been just as reliable. |

Actually I believe worstenemy meant the type of fuel filter doesnt matter. I run the big ol' ofna fuel filter and glued the mount to the top of my tank so the filter sits right there nice and tight.
Also, the stock radio is a fairly good radio and its 3 channel unlike you 2ph. If you plan on using reverse, you'll need a 3 channel.
Lets all calm down ladies, theres no point in argueing over parts that arnt even going on either of your trucks... |

First of all, don't act all high and mighty because you are wrong. Cinnabun, he meant fuel filters aren't nescessary. This may be true if you are running the 21 BB. |

| You said, "fuel filters don't matter to me" If you read that and read through all your posts in this thread you will see how easily I came to this conclusion, you have to word it better next time. |

i said the fuel filter doesn't matter and the question it was refering to is
| Quote: | | -fuel filter (does it really matter which one?) |
i see where what i said could have mistaken but i meant the brand not the filter itself |

How does running a .21bb justify not running with a fuel filter?
Kawasaki, I'm just gonna put you in your place right now because you go around here acting like a loose cannon, and I'm tired of it.
Don't accuse worstenemy of being wrong because he is not clear. If anything you should be argueing with yourself, as you took it against how he ment it, I surely didnt have a problem understanding what he ment. And still, so what if he runs without a fuel filter it's not worth talking down to someone because they have their savage set-up differently than you. The poor guy is asking for advise, not a debate about what worstenemy ment or why it's proper to run a fuel filter.
You need to get yourself straight. |
