It's been a while since I've seen it mentioned around here, but it's already been done for a RC. I think some guy has a T-Maxx with tracks on it like those. Sure, there's a cool factor involved, but to me it's about as useful as having a third ear.

those are stupid. i doubt they make your real truck that much more capable. its just as good if you get big tires and air em down. for a set of 44 inch tires and wheels it would be 10 times cheaper then those tracks. and thy have no flex to the tread so theyd be just about useless even compared to a regular tire on anything resembling a rock. there for rich people who have to have anything to be different. i laugh at them

Actually, they function fairly well on a 1:1 truck. There is a Restaurant that caters to Snowmobilers during the riding season, not far from me. Once the snow falls, the only way in there is by the trails. They use a F350 fitted with those or a similar set up to bring in supplies as the place is 15 miles off the nearest road. I wish I could remember the name of the place, I think it's Sportsmans, but not sure. Anyone from Tug Hill region of NY around to help out?

I saw that on Ripleys once on TV and it was a Ford F350 and the guy was doing some pretty wild stuff climbing sand dunes and going threw all sort of snow, I thnk it works for 1/1 but would quite work as well with R/C.

a few years back we had a post on these, someone did/does make them for a t-maxx, and i thought someone was trying to make a set for a savage, but never did hear anymore on it.

Because of the large surface area that each track covers, they do provide a lot more flotation for fullsized rigs allowing them to "float" better on snow and mud, they are very funcional on 1:1 rigs, but yes very expensive. I don't think they would make to much of a difference on the savage. But it would be kind of cool.

They work extremely well on a 4x4 quad. So theres no reason they wouldn't work on a RC. You just need the type of terrain that prefers tracks to tires. Like soft powder snow, or dry loose sand hills.

If someone could make mattracks that were durable and cheap for the RC market there would def. be a market for them.

And why would you want to go any faster? They are made for mud, sand, and snow. Places where speed is a handycap. In the proper element the would be king, outside of it there are way better alternatives.

Theres also the fact that that rating is put on there from a liability point of view. There was a rep here driving a F350 on Mattracks that would fly down the highway everyday. Looked very awsome, It was as if the truck just floated along. In the end the police shut him down. Not DOT legal...

Wonder if they have tested throwing a track at highway speeds as to wether they can control and get it stopped. Would be fun to watch.

Good point, outcast. Why everyone wants to break the sound barrier with their 1:1 and RC cars, I do not know.

I changed my mind about the track thingies. I didn't think about snow and cold, mucky, slushy mud. It's not like I see that kinda stuff around here very often (in the 80s and muggy here again today).

Believe it or not, I actually envy you guys who get snow. It's been way too long since I went snow plowing (running offroad into snow banks) in a friend's Jeep.

I think it would be useful for in the spring time here when it gets really muddy
or after the first snowfall when it's nice and fluffy

Don't diss mattracks until you seen "terminator". If you have the newest "trucks" magazine its on the cover. This truck is crazy. If you haven't seen it you must look at it.
