|
|
Hi guys- Im having trouble with my Savage Tires and my new aluminum rims. They are made of the 6061 aluminum. I cant get these tires to stick to the aluminum. I glued them on with cyanoacrylate glue, specialy designed for mounting rubber tires. Im sure it would work great if they were being glued to, say, vinyl rims or some type of plastic rim, but these ate aluminum. They just peel right off the rim aftera run or two.
Any ideas on what type of glue I should be using other than what I've tried? |

I have heard ca works fine? Some other people have aluminum rims on this site so they could probably tell you what they used to glue |

You have to lightly sand the area that the tire gets glued to. Sand the inside sidewals of the rim and try to get all of the dry glue off the rims as well. Hope this helped |

I have heard the same. Scuff up the area with some scotchbrite, clean the area well, make sure it is dry, then use a gap-filling ca glue like Zap-A-Gap.

| Thanks for the great tips guys. What would you recommend i do to get the CA and small pieces of torn rubber off the rims when i remove the tires? The rims are killer (and very expensive), so i want to use them many many times. |

When you san the rims, most of the CA glue will come off. To get the little pieces of tire off, you can peel them of with your hands I think |
