im thinkin about upgrading to a orion wasp .28.
is it a direct replacment to the stock savage motor?( motor mounts, rotostart and such.)
i could just use a few comments from people that own one(or more).
i plan to use it mainly for bashing.
thx
EDIT: well i was real lazy and didn't see the engine section in savage central. i found a thread on the SH and lots of info. not so much on fitting. still lookin for info |

Ive been doing some deep research and have changed my mind... im goin with the SH 28.
the wasp sounds to complecated to tune and has TONS of compression(horror stories of multiple pullstarts, one ways, and rotostarts being eatin)
one thing im worried about is the carb on the SH. the throttle is mounted the opposite way of the stock linkage( other side of truck) can i rotate the carb so the throttle is on the opposite side?
iv also heard the SH beats the Wasp in power and RPMs.
Do i need any other upgrades besides a 4 spider diff mod? my truck is stock except dirt hawg tires.
any more info would be much appreciated
Thx |

ive just ordered a wasp .28 and im happy with my purchase. 2.9hp is plenty for me, plus no drivetrain should be harmed by the excess power, except the diffs which i have ordered also. ive heard the sh .28 to be well over 3hp which seems like a lot of stress on the drivetrain and would need a very large cb to keep the wheels down. so if youre a real hp demon then get the sh .28, as for the wasp, get it to keep control of this already crazy truck |

thx for the reply.
so ur sayin that with the wasp u don't really have to rebuild the drivetrain?
im still worried about the extra needle on the wasp carb.
what do u think i would have to upgrade on the drivetrain if i got the SH 28? |

Stick with HPI HD allround on your drivetrain (HD cups and Bones!) thats what i run with my SH and its going ok, although my pinion cup is getting hammered on both sides, theres lots of power in an SH! i also run a Wasp .28 in savvy #2 and that also is making grooves in stock cups (either way u need to upgrade) but the SH with whip a Wasp in power, not in RPM's though
Although i still think SH is better, easy to start tune etc, looks better than wasp IMO (looks meaner )
I would try the SH if anything, with some 20% fuel |
