| Its a good think I asked first on here because I was going to get Nova aluminum clutch shoes but the cost of shipping was more than the cost of the clutch shoes themselves! So are these actually better than the Werks 4 shoe? I bought one of those a long time ago and it has worked fine for me but they're too expensive to get for my other motors. |

I have used aluminum shoes in the past and didn't like them. Too much maintenance (have to trim flash off them quite often) and they didn't last long. Went back to using HPI composite and was happy with them. They eventually wore out, so I've just installed a set of Dyn Max-Life shoes to give aluminum ones another chance. Too early to tell yet, so my post is a little useless, other than to say composite are fine....aluminum....maybe.
On performance, the aluminum do seem to grab harder, but I had to watch for it to notice. If I was just out bashing and not paying attention to how the clutch grabbed, I doubt I'd notice the difference.
On aluminum, it's a good idea to install thin washers over the shoe posts, between the shoes and the flywheel. Unfortunatley, this makes the springs look like they won't stay in the groove of the center hex nut. So I shimmed the nut out further. This meant I had to remove a shim between the CB and the hex-nut to keep the front face of the CB from rubbing on the spur gear, and then change the shimming between the end of the CB and the end of the crank, but not everyone would have that problem. It had to do with the holes drilled in my engine side lugs being located a bit different than other engines. |

So if there's not a huge noticeable difference then I'm better off getting the HPI composite ones instead. It just seems like too much work to have to keep trimming the flash off aluminum shoes. |

it just one of the things you would have to try yourself and see if your happy with it. I got some on the way. alot of guys really like the max life shoes so I dont think I will be dissapointed. I retuned my slipper clutch assembly. for harder grabbing shoes so I dont break anything. |

That's to help reduce any lag and better acceleration power-band?
I see it as one shoe engaging early, less engine load and then the 2 shoes come in to help and there coming in at a higher RPM. It's like the best of both worlds right? High/low rpm engagement mix and matched? |

Tried that a few months ago.
The shoes are still good and running, and I will definitely stick to them from now on.
But the Mugen 1.0 springs... what a shame. Two of the three broke on me, the third was already weak, and I ended replacing them by the old used HPI springs, with no issues at all. |

amen to that, I will defininitly be using these from now on,, with the stock hpi black springs these things hook like a tow truck.
I got close to a gallon of use on them thinking about pulling the CB see what it looks like, trim the edges, clean the inside of the CB. |

| my LHS recommended the dynamite shoes....they look great and work well....i thnk it's a matter of selection of springs tension....depending on your application... |
