| If you had $150 to spend on a savage X SS or a Savage 21 what would you get? The reason I'm asking is that I have both these trucks and my b-day is coming up. My mother-in-law wants to know what I want and I have a $100 to $150 to spend. I do want to upgrade the brakes and stock up on spare parts but I can't make up my mind. |

| the x ss needs very little to make it a great truck. i put bearings in my steering bellcranks, aluminum clutch shoes, and fiberglass disc brakes. those few mods made it pretty much unbreakable (for the way i drive it). i also added reverse and a 3 speed just because. |

New wheels/tires & body can make your old truck look Like a new truck< its the cheapest way to change the whole look. But its not a nessesity.
You could upgrade your radio,(2.4ghz) Or maybe some big bores & extended TVP's,with XL axles, that will improve your handling, New steering/throttle servos with stering post bearings. Or even a mid tank mod with Bulletproof diffs, Rear tie rod eliminaters are great too.
But Xtra parts are nice to have, spurs, Aarms, Knuckels, etc,,,,,
Red disc brakes are the best IMO, |

Xtreme has some great suggestions up there ^
Here is what I would consider if I was in the same situation, each should be roughly within the $150 limit.
Aftermarket TVPs and a new shell
A nice new 2.4GHz radio.
A top dollar steering servo, plus some extra bits like steering bearings and OFNA throttle linkage.
A bunch of miscellaneous hop-ups like brakes, linkages, hump pack, etc.
For the S25 I would make upgrading the diffs the top priority (if they aren't upgraded already). |

So much to do with $150!
I would try and stretch that $150 out over as many small parts as I could. I will base this on the X SS. Here are some suggestions.
Keep in mind these are rough price estimates based on what I spent. Luckily for you any merchandise is generally cheaper down south than it is in Canada lol.
OFNA Tank w/pressure fitting $15.00
Integy Rear Tie Rod Eliminators $30.00 (this will be the only integy product that I can suggest, avoid the other stuff at all cost!)
Dual Fiberglass Brakes $15.00
Fuel Filter $5.00
Hump pack $20.00
HPI Big Bores (plastic ones are so much cheaper!) $50.00
Save the remainder for some spurs or bearings or W.H.Y
Tons of options man and there has been some great suggestions by everyone, good luck! |
