Hi guy's, I'm in need of your expertise :D
I have waterproofed all my electronic including the Mamba/Castle ESC with liquid tape. Yesterday my son put the Flux upside down in two feet of water!! Guess that was the test for the waterproofing
Well everything worked sort of ok, but the ESC started to act up. Turning it self on and off etc. So tonight I opened it up, removed the liquid tape, to see if some water had penetrated. Didn't look wet, but i cleaned it off and let it dry anyway. Connected the batteries to test it, turned it on, and BANG,WOF!! Man that's some fireworks in my cellar work shop!! Smoke smell all over the house... LOL It got so hot the solder on the big wires going inn to it just melted right off!!
Well, guess I wont be able to waranty that, so now I'm looking to replace it with the best there is. Want something without the fan, waterproof and that can take 6S without problems. Price is not an issue. So whats your recommendations? If you also can give me links to where to buy, I would be really happy.
(I guess you had this on topic before, but new stuff is coming all the time, so I guess I want the latest opinions)
Thanks!! |

Hmm, so they don't have anything better than the RX8 eh? Weird.
I have blown 3 MMMs and 2 RX8s. I will still get an RX8 next though. |

@Josh, I dont know which model you had, but I heard that tekin was having issue's with the circiut board cracking on impact, & letting out the magic white smoke. Apparently that issue has been addressed by tekin.
I cant imagine why your going through ESC's, I'm still on my 1rst MMM Gettin close to 2 yrs now, 100's of pack's. |

That's look a lot like the Robbe Roxxy BL 9120 Opto?? They have that in my LHS:Norwegian Moddelers

It seems that everyone is liking the tekin Rx8, Ive never used it but If my MMM ever goes Thats what I'm getting. You need a fan to cool 6s, you wont find one without it.

Also liquid tape to waterproof wont work, it will make it water resistant but not waterproof, to waterproof your ESC you need corrosion X,
check this out

Thanks' I ordered a bunch of that miracle stuff, corrosion X. Seems like it's good for about anything, except a flu
Also in shipping:
Tekin 1/8 Rx8 Brushless Sensored/Sensorless ESC
Castle Creations 1/8 Mamba Monster ESC V3
and
Associated DS1015 Hi Torque/Hi Speed Digital Servo
That I saw you recommend in another tread...
So guess I will be good for a little while...
Other than that my shop is filled to the brink with options etc. and I'm in the middle of a complete rebuild of the flux. There are some other guy's at my job who also have RC cars. Friday we are going to have a party staring the whole ting with our own little Gran Prix on the parking lot. Guess I must be ready to tare them apart |

| Not sure how I blew all of those ESCs up, but I was running "recommended" gearing that Tekin and Castle gave me...oh well. I will still get an RX8 in the future again for it's awesomeness and tunability. |

Hi guy's!
Just installed my Tekin RX8, took it out for a spin. After I got the feel for it I did a back flip and, poff it smoked out on me
Was running standard gearing 2.20 (44/20), 5s and stock settings on the ESC.
That did hurt my feelings
Had a nice chat with support at Tekin, and Ty there gave me a RA#. Told me I would get a new. Good service, but I wish I would not need to ship it all the way from Norway to US when I could have send them a picture of it...
Good thing I also ordered a new MM. Did run that on Friday without problems... Will reinstall that... |

| Was running with Hyperion 2s/25C/5000mAh and a 3s/35C/5400mAh. Had a lot of runs with this combo without any problems... |

Thought the C ratings had to be the same but correct me if I'm wrong. |

Yes, but the original MMM has issue's on 6s, Now they are building one that handles 10s, I say lets figure out the MMM first. |

I saw somebody recommend that somewhere here on the forum, yes. But why? As long as the lowest C rating is enough shouldn't it be good. And if anything shouldn't this in the case blow the battery, not the esc?
As I said, I had plenty of runs with this combination without any issue...?
I probably also figured out why my first ESC blew. There were probably no problem with the ESC to begin with. The reason it turned on and off was because of bad contact inside my batteries. I found I had two batteries with faulty contact. So when I switched batt's to test I was unfortunate enough to pick a pack that was also faulty. I thought it was the ESC, so therefore disassembled it and removed the waterproofing and probably ruined it in the process.
But the Tekin one was untouched....
This problem with bad contact in the batteries, is it easy to fix? Any one of you opened your packs and re soldiered it? It's a PIA going trough the whole process of returning them, just if it needs a soldier ...

| there is a thread about it on a forum called RC-Monster. there aren't any pics or specs really even up yet, just some insider knowledge from castle. i believe they are doing beta tests now. It's loosely based off the MMM and plane HV ICE ESC |
