|
|
Hi ive just ordered a savage ss and i am looking to spend around £100 on hop ups and modifications. i was wondering if anyone could give me a list of the suggested one for around that amount of money.
To start off i was thinking abount the Kit HPI do for the 4gear diff mod and HPI's cam type servo mod? any good? |

You might want to get a better air filter the stock one is a little small. Did you get an updated savage with the 3 shoe clutch and rear pick up tank if not you shoudl get those also cuase the stock 2 shoe sucks.
I just seen the cam type servo saver on hpi's site looks to be prety good and you dont have to shave it down to clear the diff like the mp one since its from hpi. I think ill pick one of those up cuase i have been running the stock sterrin saver for a year now. |

I reccomend these as the top 4 Hop-Ups:
1. Hump Pack (5 cell)
2. Four Gear Diff Mod
3. MP Servo saver
4. Metal Gear Servo |

I agree with FlashRC. That is a good list. My only variation to it would be as follows:
1a) High torque MG steering servo
1b) Servo saver ( New HPI or MP )
2 ) 4 gear diff mod.
3 ) Motor saver air filter
4 ) 6v hump pack
Treat 1a and 1b as one mod. One is not very effective without the other. The diff mod is in the number 2 position only if you intend to do it before running the truck for the first time. However doing it later means that you will be replacing diff cups also. The Motor Saver will give you a decent power boost over the stock filter since the air flow is greatly increased. The 6v hump pack is more of a convenience than a performance improvement since you get 6v from 4 alkyline batteries but it will save you money and headaches. That is just my humble opinion. |

those are good suggestions..but dont forget a pipe...i like the hpi ribbed and the tsais pro both..they both have diff benifits.... if you want the highest rpm id get the hpi ribbed its wide open...but the tsais is half as loud and gives a tad more low end...with a slight decrease in rpm...and dont forget the brakes its only like 13 bucks for the dual disc kit.....well worth it...plus you can do endos with good brakes.. b now that i think of it the new SS comes with a ribbed pipe and adjustable arms huh? |

| anyone know if the savage carb is 15-16mm(to fit a air filter on) also would a centre skid plate be a good idea because ive seen many people talking about them. I think ive sorted out the steering and the diffs with the mods HPI brought out. any mods to the break/throttle or anything else before i order? |

If you are running your Savage at the track most of the time, center skid is waste of money and time. It will make your truck heavier and hard to spot any problems (if there is any)
If you are a basher... It might be helpful... for extra protection.
I don't run them on my Savage(I run my truck at the track only.)
On my T-Maxx, I have them becuase it braces whole chassis but on Savage, it doesn't brace anything... so I don't feel the need for it.
If you decide to use OFNA linkage for your mod, make sure you get extra linkage sliders (OFNA kit comes with only one and you need two to make it work.)

OFNA or Venom is good. |
