| I myself plan on racing my Savage in Waco Tx on friday night. On Saturday night I'm going to run 8th scale, electric truck(RC10T4) and maybe my Savage again if enough drivers show up to race the Monster Truck class in Killeen Tx. I know enough will show up to race Sportsman Monster Truck but I think it's unfair for the more experenced drivers race with the new guys. So I don't do it myself since I have two other classes to race in with drivers of my ability. |

I just got home from Racing. It started to rain healf way through the second heat. The track just got better and better, the trucks seemed glued to the track. We stopped for about 20 minutes because there were a few flashes of lightening, the electric guys bailed along with 1/2 of the buggy and truck guys. So after about 20 min of no lightening, the race director says 3 min to start of truck class 10 min main. I got a good start, and got out front, staying there for about 4 mnutes, the fsat guy of the night came up on me hard, he was caught in traffic earlier. I slid over and let him by, and a lap later he pitted for fuel, not me, gotta love the sav tank . I was 15 or so seconds ahead buy the time he got out of the pits, and arouind to the start/finish line. And I just kind of cruised around trying to be smooth the rest of the race, it worked, I won, still with about 1/2 inch of fuel in the tank. Alot of the fast guys left because of the rain, but it's still a win for me, my 2nd now. When the buggies came out, all was good for about 10 minutes, then the skiy opened up, and the track just became a slurry mess, the winners Storm weighed at least 15 lbs at the end of the race. There is a Sunday race series this year too, first one is this weekend, on mothers day..........Gee hun, why don't I give you a nice quiet day at the house so you can relax?........Think it will work?
Good luck to all that are racing this weekend. |

Man I had another night of frustrating problems. Went to practice and broke my pipe on the 1st run. So I put the new Hot Bodies pipe and hoped for the best in the first heat. I had a guy check the temps every couple of laps and he kept richening it up but the temps were still up around 290. I did win the heat. The second heat I richened the lowend up 1/8th of a turn as I felt the LSN was lean and not the HSN. Well pretty much the same thing happened in the 2nd heat except after a few laps I flammed out on a temp check. The temps were going up even though I had the HSN at 4 1/4 turns out. For the 3rd heat I richened up the LSN 1/4 turn and and ran a few laps before the heat started for temp checks. This time it ran allot better and I won the heat hands down. The temps were still up around 290 and I still felt the LSN was lean. So I richened it up another 1/4 turnand set the HSN at 3 1/4 turns. Went out and checked the engine before the mains and could tell the difference right away. Leaned the HSN in to 3 1/8 turn and the motor was set. I started off kinda slow in the main as the engine was not really up to temp but after the motor came up to temp it was running pretty good. The motor came off the track this time ar 235, bout time I get it set right, The three other guys I was racing against were not very good so I was more or less racing against the clock. Trying to beat my time from last week. I beat it by 1 second and had I had the HSN set about 1/8th turn leaner, I'm sure the motor would have cleared out sooner and I wouldn't have lost so much time in the beggining.

Not sure about you guys but Sunday is mother's day so the kids and I will do what mom wants. It definitely won't be racing. Oh well, she deserves it. I guess we'll have to settle for a couple of tanks of practice on the backyard track. If the weather cooperates, we'll be back at it next week and my post on this subject will be "on topic". Enjoy your racing this week! |

I raced tonight in three different classes and there were only four different heats! Can you say busy?
Raced my 8th scale for the very first time tonight, in fact drove it for the very first time. Long story short finished 4th in the main even though I flammed out twice. Once right in front of my pitman coming in for fuel, didn't lose much time at all. The second time my pitman was turn marshalling and I had to get it going myself, luckily someone ran and helped me out. Only cost me two laps. I finshed three laps off the winner's pace and one lap out of thrid in the 10 minute main. I'm happy with the finish.
Monster truck went out and TQ'ed but the oneway is slipping real bad and could not get it fired in time to start the main. Finshed thrid, I don't even know how many laps down.
Stock eletric truck, I TQ'ed and won with my RC10T4. Had a close battle going for awhile since my ESC is messed up and I have no brakes at all.
Glade the night is over. I'll never race three different classes in the same night again. I broke the 8th scale had to work fast to fix it. Broke the RC10T4 again some fast work and then the problems with the Savage. If it wasn't for my 10 year old son helping with the transponder's, fueling before the race's and things like that I'd never been able to run all the heats and the Mains. |

I raced my savage for the first time yesterday. I've raced various other rc cars in the past eleven years, and racing MT was a blast,,, Definitely alot more clumsier than running 12th scale, or touring car! I had set up the truck per the information found on this site, running a ported Hpi 25, with the Hpi ribbed pipe, bowtie 40s. First qualifiew, TQed, and was asked if I had a different pipe to run,,, the ribbed pipe was to loud,,,, The turnmarshals were covering up their ears as I blew by them. I put on the Tsais pipe, and retuned the engine befor the 2nd qualifier,, and turned the same number of laps,, 8 in 5 minutes, a smidgeon slower than the first qualifier. For the third qualifier, I bought a GH 08105 Pipe, and retuned the engine again,,, this time turning 9 laps in 5 minutes.
I ended up winning the Main, running for ten minutes, and six laps up on every one else. If only I had some comptetition!!!! I was running against three Tmaxxes, the only one that stayed running for the whole race was running the Trx 2.5, the other two were running the sirio 18, and would flame out at the start of the race.
Based on the other two classes running, 10th nitro truck, and 8th buggy, I was two laps down from the nitro trucks, and four laps down from the buggies. I definetly need to gear up from the 15/52 that I was running! |

| thats a nice layout, especially the yelloe pipe. I like allot of turning in the layout because it keeps you busy and is more about driving than all out power. |

I myself am running a 15/52 but the two tracks I'm running on I need that little bit of bottom end to get over the jumps. You'll get faster and when you get used to the handling with more wheel time. I bet you'll be real close to the 10th scale guys. |

| Just got back from the track. Kind of boring report, nothing really stood out. My lowered TVP's really seem to make a difference. The track was like glue from over night rains. once I got reaccustomed to the traction after practiceing on a very dry dusty track yesterday, things went very good. I got TQ winning both heats, and I won the main. Everyone else got hung up behind me on the 1st turn in the main, and I had about a 20 sec lead, and just worked it. |

well how did the savage do today.. well qualifier 1, qualified 3rd.. track was difficult due to the ruts.. but by the final races finally had a groove cut in it. missed qualifier #2, the steering servo mounting on the custom savage took a dump and had to redo it.. race.. started late, came in 2nd.. bent another shock shaft, kocked off the rear tierod.. but finished 2nd still
Buggies.....
I raced the pro1 and pro2 today.. lp1 = 8 port race with 14t cb, lp2 = rb ws7II with 16t cb.. was on front yard small track, very dusty/loose.. i was running 2 buggy clases, aka normal/open, normal is 5 min qualifiers, 5 min main, open is 10min qualifiers and 15min main..
i started off with the trusty lp1 on the open qualifier 1st, and the lp2 in normal 1st.. i ended up switching buggies between the 2... the lp1 was hooked up real good.. i swear it corners better.. and had traction issues with the lp2.. but then the weather changed.. the lp2 was hooking up much better.. but still lacked the steering the lp1 had.. BUT to keep up with it was fun to watch.. in the final 15min main, 10 started, 5 finished, i was #2, i lead the race for over 10 min.. in the final 2 min a rock jumped up from the groove i was in and sent me into a wall, turn marshel was not paying attention.. and took me up to the last lap on the final turn to miss 1st place by 100ths of a second.. but i showed all them other pricey buggies who was boss.. |

he won monster truck class.. there was only 4 of us to start.. 3 to race the main.. hes newbie mike.. qualifier 1 the truck flamed out.. trying to run qualifier 2 the truck would not run.. during intermission i took motor out, found pinched fuel line, flywheel nut loose, which ate the clutch springs so clutch was engauged and would not run.. i still cannto figure out the flywheel nut.. i put it together and NEVER had that issue before.. its like the brass cone deteriorated
buggy...
lets see.. qualified 3rd of 5 in heat1, heat 2 i beleive he came in 1st or 2nd, and the main race he lost a e clip on the rear lower hing pin, loosing the rear dogbone.. so DNF |

| Sounds like he had a busy night. Mine was real hectic. I wanted to make changes to all three vehicles I raced but never had the time. I was just barely able to keep them all running. I was really happy with my 8th scale finish. There were two sponsered 8th scale drivers running and another guy would could be if he would run panther tires on his GT. There was also one other driver in 8th scale who is a sponsered Touring car driver, driving the 8th scale buggy for the first weekend like me. I've already made the changes to the 8th scale and the RC10T4 that I want to make for next weeks races. During the week I'm going to tear down the Savage and give it the TLC it needs. I've run it a couple months now without ever taking out the front diff to service it. the rear is starting to get to the point where I'mn afraid the bearing will blow out on every run. I also need to get the S-25 purring like I know it can. |
